SPICY BRAISED TOFU Spicy braised tofu is a great way to dress up somewhat bland tofu. It’s delicious but it may surprise you with a slight spice kick at the end.
Prep to nish 15 minutes - Serves: 4 Ingredients • 350g (0.8 pounds) rm tofu • 15g (0.5 ounces) green onion - thinly sliced • Sauce (mix these in a bowl) - 2 Tbsp soy sauce - 1 tsp Korean chili akes - 2 tsp sugar - 1/2 tsp minced garlic - 1 Tbsp sesame oil - 2 tsp roasted sesame seeds
Step 1. Take out the tofu from the packaging and rinse in cold running water. Gently pat dry the outer layer of tofu with some kitchen paper. Cut the tofu into medium rectangular size pieces (5cm x 7cm or 2 inch x 2.8 inch). Gently pat dry both sides of the sliced tofu with s o m e kitchen paper.
2. Preheat a pan on medium high heat and add some cooking oil and spread the oil across the pan.
3. Add the tofu and pan fry both sides until they turn golden brown (about 2 minutes each side).
4. Add the sauce (about 2 tsp per tofu slice) and the sliced green onion on top of each tofu slice and simmer them on medium low heat until the sauce reduces (for about 2 to 3 minutes).
